Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy
The Global Atlas for Solar and Wind Energy provides a globally-focused geographic information systems (GIS) tool, showcasing homogeneous solar and wind data. It is designed to support policy formulation and planning, and will stimulate investments in pre-feasibility studies for wind and solar projects. This portal allows easy access to both the Atlas and the supporting Data Catalog. This work effort is coordinated by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in partnership with the Multilateral Working Group on Solar and Wind Energy of the Clean Energy Ministerial. It represents a large coordination effort between numerous data providers, under guidance of the IRENA member countries.
GeoNetwork opensource has been developed to connect spatial information communities and their data using a modern architecture, which is at the same time powerful and low cost, based on the principles of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and International and Open Standards for services and protocols (a.o. from ISO/TC211 and OGC).
