How to use wildcards?

Wildcards '?' (single character) and '*' (multiple characters) are accepted.

bird will only match the word 'bird'
bir? will match the words 'bir' and 'bird'
bir* will match the words 'bir', 'bird' and 'birds'
*bird* will match the words 'bird', 'birds', 'seabird' and 'seabirds'

you can search with or without filters, filters are here to narrow down your search results using predefined lists

using filters

multiple selects within one filter will be used as OR statements
examples:
- selecting both Belgium and France will show all records where Belgium has been selected and all records where France has been selected
different filters will be used with AND statement in search

when searching without filters the different words will be searched in all fields that are not a filter examples:

Abstract

The Portuguese National Oceanographic Data Centre (NODC-PT) is a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) dedicated to the management of marine geospatial data, belonging to a global network of National Oceanographic Data Centres, coordinated by the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE) program of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This infrastructure aims to be a single and central access point for Portugal’s marine data, whose management is shared by the Hydrographic Institute (IH) and the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, I.P. (IPMA), under the coordination of the Portuguese Committee for the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (CP-COI).

Abstract

The EOV Metadata Submission Application is designed to streamline the creation of metadata JSON-LD files and sitemaps for data producers (e.g. programmes, projects, and/or institutions) that monitor Essential Ocean Variables (EOV). This tool is intended to facilitate integration with the GOOS BioEco Portal and the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS). Generated JSON-LD files are submitted to a GitHub repository as issues, when entries are updated, a date is added in a comment. A sitemap is produced of all entries which is connected to the ODIS Catalogue.

Abstract

Microplastics (<5 mm) pollution is a growing problem affecting coastal communities, marine ecosystems, aquatic life, and human health. The widespread occurrence of marine microplastics, and the need to curb its threats, require expansive, and continuous monitoring. While microplastic research has increased in recent years and generated significant volumes of data, there is a lack of a robust, open access, and long-term aggregation of this data. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) now provides a global open access to marine microplastics data on an easily discoverable and accessible GIS web map and data portal (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/products/microplastics). The objective of this data portal is to develop a repository where microplastics data are aggregated, archived, and served in a user friendly, consistent, and reliable manner. This work contributes to NCEI’s efforts towards data standardization, integration, harmonization, and interoperability among national and international collaborators for monitoring global marine microplastics. This paper describes the NOAA NCEI global marine microplastics database, its creation, quality control procedures, and future directions.

Abstract

The Distribution Mapping and Analysis Portal (DisMAP) is a user friendly and interactive website designed to provide visualization and analysis tools to better track, understand, and respond to shifting distributions of marine species. It allows users to examine changes in species distributions over time by looking at both location maps as well as graphs of key indicators of a species distribution (changes over time in latitude, depth, range limits). Our mission is to improve ease of access to and exploration of fish and invertebrate species distribution data and support the use of spatial data for insight and informing marine resource management decisions.

A Directory of Marine and Freshwater Professionals. The OceanExpert system, formerly known as Global Directory of Marine (and Freshwater) Professionals, is a database containing information on individuals active on issues related to the marine (and freshwater environment). OceanExpert was developed in 1997 under the auspices of the IODE Group of Experts on Marine Information Management (GE-MIM). OceanExpert is a free product but can be used only for non-profit purposes. As an individual professional you are welcome to add your information to the database. If you would like to collaborate with the OceanExpert project by coordinating input for your institution or country then please contact us. In order to improve global coverage of the database we are constantly looking for national or regional input coordinators. OceanExpert contains information on more than 13000 individual experts and 3000 institutions and organisations.
