Citation
Abstract In each of these regions, surface current maps are made centered on each hour of the day. Eleven mapping sites are used, five "standard range" systems with 2Km resolution and 50 kg range, and six "long range" systems with 6 km resolution and up to 180 km range. To reduce random noise and tidal current variability, the time-varying currents at each location are averaged over 25 hours. A new 25-hour average is computed each hour, and these averaged maps are animated here.
