Abstract
One of MFRI main roles is to give advice on sustainable exploitation of renewable resources in the ocean and in lakes and rivers to the Ministry and stakeholders.
MFRI advice is based on international agreements and standards. The assessment and advice of the main Icelandic stocks is reviewed annually by ICES. The precautionary considerations that is the basis of ICES advice and its MSY approach is also the basis of MFRI advice.
