One of the goal of the North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES) is to promote the collection and rapid exchange of data and scientific knowledge about the ocean environment, global weather and climate change, living resources and their ecosystems, and the impacts of human activities in the North Pacific Ocean. The technical committee on data exchange (TCODE) focuses on sharing metadata
(as a means that may lead to real data) rather than on sharing data themselves. PICES TCODE catalog service is a tool for participants and expert groups that allows to prepare and maintain metadata descriptions of data, information, and services on all topics of interest to the PICES community. This service based on Geonetwork Opensources software. All catalogs created with this service are included in one general catalog searchable through the Internet. At the moment, the general catalog contains about four thousands records.
