Abstract
Nautical charts are maps specially designed to meet the needs of maritime navigation, the most important elements in a chart are: bathymetric information, characteristics of the coast, dangers and navigation aids, elevations, nature of the bottom, etc. In turn, they provide graphically relevant information to the user in order to carry out safe browsing.
Nautical charts can be distributed in the analog format as paper charts or in digital format.
According to the definition of the nautical chart of chapter V of the SOLAS Convention, it can only be produced and distributed by or under the authority of a Government, Hydrographic Service or any other institution authorized by the government.
