Abstract
CENDHOC's mission is to maintain a complete and validated Hydrographic and Oceanographic database of areas of national interest, responsive to institutional and national interests, as well as provide necessary support to the national marine scientific community.
The specific functions of CENDHOC are as follows:
Advise the Director of SHOA, national representative to the IOC, in all matters related to the exchange of oceanographic data.
Collect, classify, normalize, validate and incorporate into the oceanographic database physical, chemical, biological and bathymetric data, obtained in accordance with current legal provisions and through exchange with national and foreign organizations and institutions.
Representing SHOA, the national focal point for oceanographic data exchange between the national and international community and the documentation center related to the control and classification of everything related to oceanographic data reporting.
Perform the functions of the National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) for the International System for the Exchange of Oceanographic Data and Information of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IODE-IOC), fulfilling the tasks of these international commitments.
