Abstract
FishBase covers 33,000 fish species compiled from 52,000 references in partnership with 2,000 collaborators 300,000 common names and 55,000 pictures. FishBase provides comprehensive species data including information on taxonomy geographical distribution biometrics and morphology behavior and habitats ecology and population dynamics as well as reproductive metabolic and genetic data. There is access to tools such as trophic pyramids identification keys biogeographical modeling and fishery statistics and there are direct species level links to information in other databases such as LarvalBase GenBank the IUCN Red List and the Catalog of Fishes. A new version of the database is released every even month of the year.
