Abstract
The aim of this product is to promote the people safety on the beach and also to be used as a planning tool for the entities responsible for the beach safety in their prevention and alert activities.
In this product it is available five-day forecast for wave conditions (significant height, wave period and direction), wind at sea surface (intensity and direction), tides and cloud coverage. The values of wave condition (significant height, depth, distance from the surf to the coastline and wavelength) are presented in tabular format for several beaches.
This product is under development so, at the moment, corresponds to its first version.
The meteorological information is obtained from the ECMWF, ALADIN and AROME models, provided by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, as part of collaboration with HI.
