Abstract The Meteoceanographic Forecast is a bulletin issued by the Marine Meteorological Service (SMM), operated by the Marine Hydrography Center (CHM). It is a forecast for the next 48 hours of atmospheric and oceanic conditions over the maritime area under Brazil's responsibility for weather forecasting purposes (METAREA V). The main synoptic-scale meteorological systems that will be operating in METAREA V are correlated with the predicted wind and wave conditions in coastal and ocean areas and the bad weather warnings that will be in effect during the period covered by the bulletin. This information is based on the forecasts generated by the numerical models of the atmosphere and waves, produced daily by the SMM and which are also available for public consultation. The analysis of this information is carried out and updated daily by professionals in the area of Meteorology and Oceanography, to then be compiled in the Meteoceanographic Forecast bulletin.
