Abstract Protocol elaborated within the framework of the GEF SAMP Project. The methodology synthesizes monitoring stations for coral areas, as well as procedures for collecting information on coral cover, the cover of green macroalgae, abundance and biomass of herbivorous fish and abundance and biomass of predatory fish associated with the reef. The ICTAC evaluates the general condition of biotic integrity, and therefore the state of conservation of coral areas, and the changes in health over time, by incorporating these variables into an arithmetic average.
